China’s Long March-8A Deploys New Internet Satellite Batch

China launched a Long March-8A rocket from the Hainan commercial spacecraft launch site on Saturday, sending the 14th batch of low-orbit internet satellites into space. The rocket lifted off at 3:53 p.m. and successfully delivered the payloads into their preset orbit. Developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, the 50.5-meter-long rocket weighs 371 tonnes and can carry up to 7 tonnes to a 700-km sun-synchronous orbit. After its maiden flight in February, the Long March-8A has entered a high-density launch phase. This mission is the first in the Long March-8 series to use coal-based rocket kerosene instead of conventional petroleum fuel. The new propellant is cleaner, easier to store, and more cost-effective while maintaining stable performance, supporting future frequent launches. This flight marks the rocket’s fifth mission and the 612th launch of the Long March family.
