Toyota‘s Continued Hybrid Vehicle Bet in the US

Toyota announced on Tuesday that it will invest $912 million in five US factories to boost hybrid vehicle production, aiming to meet growing demand. As a market leader in hybrids, this investment is part of its plan to spend up to $10 billion in the US over the next five years. The move comes as Toyota and the auto industry grapple with tariffs and the end of federal EV tax credits.The funds will be distributed among factories in West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Missouri. The investment mainly focuses on adding new production lines for hybrid vehicle components. Approximately $125 million will be used to start producing a hybrid – electric Toyota Corolla in the US for the first time. The largest portion, around $453 million, will be directed to expanding production of 4 – cylinder hybrid – compatible engines, sixth – generation hybrid transaxles, and rear motor components at the Buffalo, West Virginia plant.
