UBTech Ramps Up Humanoid Robot Production as Costs Drop Sharply

UBTech plans to expand humanoid robot output tenfold in 2026 to about 5,000 units, aiming to reach 10,000 by 2027 as scaling cuts production costs by 20–30% annually. The Shenzhen-based company expects unit costs to fall below US$20,000 between 2027 and 2030. UBTech is set to deliver 500 industrial robots this year, up from just 10 last year, with demand far exceeding supply. Over 90% of components are made in China, and the quality of local precision parts is rapidly improving thanks to the country’s strong EV supply chain. UBTech has secured over 800 million yuan (US$112 million) in orders for its Walker S2 humanoid, which features a self-replacing battery. Its robots have been tested in major factories such as BYD, Geely, FAW-Volkswagen and Foxconn, helping accelerate its embodied-AI capabilities.
