China’s UBTech Robotics has received over US$112 million in orders for its humanoid robot Walker S2, signaling the growing role of robots in industrial work. The Shenzhen-based firm secured a 159 million yuan deal from a Sichuan company, following a 250 million yuan order earlier. Launched in July, Walker S2 is promoted as the first humanoid robot able to change its own battery. UBTech, listed in Hong Kong since 2023, announced that mass production will begin in mid-November. Driven by industrial demand and investor confidence, the company’s share price has surged more than 150% this year.
