Over the past two years, LinkedIn has steadily woven AI into many corners of its platform—from generating ad copy and writing posts to offering job-hunting advice and personalized digests. Now the company is finally applying AI to one of its most heavily used features: search.

Earlier this year, LinkedIn introduced an AI-powered natural-language job search tool for U.S. users. Instead of relying on rigid keywords, members could type requests like “remote marketing jobs for recent grads” and receive relevant matches. Now, the company is extending this natural-language capability to people search, potentially changing how users discover talent, investors, collaborators, and experts.

As senior product director Rohan Rajiv explains, traditional “lexical search” meant that unless you knew the exact wording, the best matches could remain hidden. The new AI-powered approach is designed to surface the most relevant people quickly—whether you’re seeking career guidance, business leads, or collaborators.
