Lei Jun’s Wealth Soars as Xiaomi’s EV Boom Drives Fortune Surge
Xiaomi’s rapid rise in electric vehicles has catapulted founder and CEO Lei Jun to fifth place on the Hurun China Rich List, with a fortune of RMB 326 billion ($46 billion) — up 151% year-on-year. This marks his second top-five appearance since 2015. The leap comes from Xiaomi’s booming EV sales and premium smartphone growth. In the first half of 2025, revenue reached RMB 227.2 billion, with net income up 70%. Xiaomi delivered 157,200 EVs, generating RMB 21.3 billion. Lei joins CATL’s Robin Zeng, whose wealth climbed 65%, as top contenders for China’s richest. Nongfu Spring’s Zhong Shanshan remains number one with RMB 530 billion.
