The opening ceremony of the National Games in Guangzhou blended Lingnan culture with cutting-edge technology such as AI, VR, and holographic projections. Andy Lau and Joey Yung were among the Hong Kong stars performing in the 75-minute show, produced by filmmaker Andrew Lau, known for Infernal Affairs. Highlights included AIGC-enhanced lion dances, VR-powered Yingge dances, and AR dragon boats “rowing” into the stands. The ceremony celebrated the shared heritage of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau. Over 4,000 participants, including 2,100 athletes, are taking part in the Games, which run until November 21.
