Alibaba’s Singles’ Day Sees Robust Growth

Alibaba’s Singles’ Day shopping festival started on Oct 20. In the first hour of Taobao and Tmall’s direct sales, 80 brands exceeded 100 million yuan in sales and over 30,000 brands doubled their takings year-on-year. Beauty products were strong, with 8 brands passing 100 million yuan in 10 minutes. Alibaba said this year’s event showed “faster growth”, indicating a recovery in domestic consumption.
