Apple’s AI division faces another setback as Ke Yang, who led the company’s AI-powered web search project, joins Meta. Yang’s exit follows that of Ruoming Pang, Apple’s former head of AI models, and about a dozen others from the AIML (AI and machine learning) team—many of whom have also joined Meta’s Superintelligence Labs.Yang recently headed Apple’s Answers, Knowledge, and Information (AKI) team, focused on making Siri smarter by integrating web data and competing with OpenAI, Perplexity, and Google. With a major Siri revamp due in March, insiders expect more departures from Apple’s AI unit soon.
