New data from Apptopia suggests ChatGPT’s mobile app has entered a slower growth phase. Global download growth has dropped since April, with October projected to see an 8.1% decline month over month. Although the app still attracts millions of downloads daily, user engagement is softening. In the U.S., the average time spent per user has fallen 22.5% since July, and sessions per user are down 20.7%. This shows users are opening the app less frequently. However, churn rates have stabilized, meaning ChatGPT is holding onto its core user base even as casual interest cools. OpenAI has yet to comment on the trend.
