Sally Brown is a student and she wants to be a teacher.

She is working at Happy Hills in her holidays.

Lots of people come to Happy Hills, to go on the rides and see the fun characters – and ‘Have a Happy Day’.
许多人来到快乐山，体验游乐设施，观看有趣的卡通人物——并“度过快乐的一天”。
Today is an exciting day at Happy Hills – Zapp the famous singer is coming to open a new ride.
今天是快乐山激动人心的一天——著名歌手扎普将要为一个新的游乐项目揭幕。
Sally is very excited because she loves Zapp’s songs and she has all his CDs.
莎莉非常兴奋，因为她喜欢扎普的歌，并且拥有他所有的CD。
She really wants to meet and speak to Zapp, but Mr Parry says, ‘Stop talking and do some work!’

But then someone takes Zapp’s new CD with his secret new song on it… and Happy Hills is not a happy place any more.

1 JOBS FOR TODAY

Every day lots of different people come to Happy Hills because there are lots of exciting things to do.
每天许多不同的人来到快乐山，因为这里有许多刺激好玩的事情可做。
Sally Brown works at Happy Hills in her holiday.
莎莉·布朗在假期于快乐山工作。
She is a student and she wants to be a teacher.
她是一名学生，想成为一名老师。
‘I need the money,’ she tells her family, ‘and it’s an interesting job.’
“我需要钱，”她告诉家人，“而且这是一份有趣的工作。”
But she is always very tired in the evening.
但她晚上总是很累。
The workers at Happy Hills arrive early in the morning.
快乐山的工作人员一大早就到了。
They all wear clean green trousers and yellow shirts.

They must smile a lot and be nice to all the visitors.
他们必须经常微笑，并对所有游客友好。
Every morning Mr Parry puts a list of Jobs for Today in the workers’ canteen.

Mr Parry wears different clothes.
帕里先生穿的衣服不一样。
His shirt is green and his trousers are white, and he wears a red coat with I’m Ken Parry. Can I help you? on his pocket.

The visitors call him Ken, but all the workers call him Mr Parry.
游客们叫他肯，但所有员工都叫他帕里先生。
Today Sally arrives at Happy Hills at eight o’clock.
今天莎莉八点钟到达快乐山。
On her shirt there is a picture of a smiling face and Have a Happy Day in black and red writing.
她的衬衫上有一个笑脸图案，以及黑红相间的文字“度过快乐的一天”。
She goes to the canteen and looks for Mr Parry’s list.
她走进食堂寻找帕里先生的清单。
‘What job am I doing today?’ Sally thinks.

‘Am I making tea, or helping in the children’s play house?’

But Sally is wrong.

The list says, ‘Sally Brown – Connie Cat. Break: eleven o’clock.’

‘Oh no!’ thinks Sally.
“哦不！”莎莉心想。
Nobody likes wearing the costumes.
没人喜欢穿演出服。
But at Happy Hills the characters are very important.
但在快乐山，卡通人物非常重要。
The visitors like to take photos of their children with Cowboy Joe, Charlie Clown, Baby Blue Eyes, Photo Phil, Big John, Connie Cat, Big Apple, Miss Flower, Edward Elephant and all their friends.
游客们喜欢带着孩子与牛仔乔、小丑查理、蓝眼宝贝、摄影菲尔、大个子约翰、康妮猫、大苹果、花小姐、大象爱德华以及他们所有的朋友合影。
Everybody always asks the same questions, ‘Are you very hot in your costume?’ and ‘How do you eat and drink?’

Edward Elephant has the best job.
大象爱德华的工作最棒。
He has a bag of water under his costume.
他的演出服下面藏着一个水袋。
He can spray the visitors with water.

And Photo Phil and Charlie Clown make everybody laugh.
摄影菲尔和小丑查理则逗得大家哈哈大笑。
But Connie Cat cannot do that.
但康妮猫做不到这些。
She can only say miaow to the children all day.
她只能整天对着孩子们“喵喵”叫。
Sally looks for her costume.
莎莉去找她的演出服。
A tall man in a cowboy costume is standing beside her.
一个穿着牛仔服的高个子男人站在她旁边。
‘Hullo, Sally,’ says the cowboy. ‘It’s me – William.’
“你好，莎莉，”牛仔说，“是我——威廉。”
William is a student too. He is Sally’s friend.
威廉也是一名学生。他是莎莉的朋友。
‘Which costume are you looking for?’
“你在找哪套演出服？”
‘Connie Cat. When’s your break?’

‘Eleven o’clock.’
“十一点。”
‘Me too.’

2 HERE COMES ZAPP!
2 扎普来了！
It is nine o’clock.
九点了。
The doors open, but there are not many visitors today.
大门打开了，但今天游客不多。
They all have invitations and they show them to Mr Parry.
他们都有邀请函，并向帕里先生出示。
A very famous man is coming to Happy Hills, so Mr Parry is very excited.
一位非常有名的人要来快乐山，所以帕里先生非常兴奋。
‘Zapp’s coming today. He’s opening the new Zapp-o-copter,’ says William to Sally.
“扎普今天来。他要为新的‘扎普直升机’揭幕，”威廉对莎莉说。
‘Stop talking and do some work!’ says Mr Parry.
“别聊天了，干活去！”帕里先生说。
Zapp is a singer.
扎普是一名歌手。
Sally loves listening to his songs and she has all his CDs.
莎莉喜欢听他的歌，拥有他所有的CD。
There is a picture of him in her room too.
她的房间里也贴着他的海报。
The Zapp-o-copter is very exciting.
“扎普直升机”非常刺激。
People can sit in little helicopters and go up and down very fast.
人们可以坐在小直升机里快速升降。
The visitors stand behind a blue rope and wait for Zapp.
游客们站在蓝绳后面等待扎普。
‘Please stay behind the rope,’ says Mr Parry.
“请待在绳子后面，”帕里先生说。
Suddenly there is a noise in the sky.
突然天空中传来一阵声响。
Everybody looks up.
大家都抬起头来。
‘It’s Zapp’s helicopter!’ says William.
“是扎普的直升机！”威廉说。
The helicopter comes down and Zapp gets out.
直升机降落，扎普走了出来。
He smiles at the visitors.
他向游客们微笑。
‘Oh – he’s wonderful!’ says a young girl.
“噢——他太棒了！”一个小女孩说。
She gives Zapp a flower.
她送给扎普一朵花。
He gives her a big smile and says, ‘Thank you’.
他给了她一个灿烂的微笑并说：“谢谢。”
Sally is hot and thirsty in her costume.
莎莉穿着演出服又热又渴。
She wants to talk too, but Mr Parry is watching.
她也想说话，但帕里先生正在盯着。
3 ZAPP’S NEW SONG
3 扎普的新歌
Mr Parry takes the singer to the Zapp-o-copter.
帕里先生带歌手来到“扎普直升机”前。
Zapp cuts the rope.
扎普剪断了彩带。
‘Thank you, Zapp. Now please can you sing for us?’ says Mr Parry.
“谢谢你，扎普。现在能为我们唱首歌吗？”帕里先生说。
‘OK! But the people must help me!’ he says.
“好的！但大家必须帮我一起唱！”他说。
He begins to sing.
他开始唱歌。
Everybody knows the song and sings it with him.
每个人都会这首歌，便和他一起唱了起来。
‘Thank you,’ says Zapp. ‘You’re all wonderful singers.’
“谢谢，”扎普说，“你们都是出色的歌手。”
‘Now look at this.’ He takes a CD out of his pocket. ‘This is my new song,’ he says.
“现在看这个。”他从口袋里掏出一张CD。“这是我的新歌，”他说。
‘Please sing it for us!’ say the TV men.
“请为我们唱一下吧！”电视台的人说。
But Zapp smiles. ‘No, no – you must come to my big concert next Saturday.’
但扎普微笑着说：“不，不——你们一定要来参加我下周六的大型演唱会。”
He puts the CD in his pocket again.
他又把CD放回了口袋。
‘Now let’s go on the Zapp-o-copter!’ says Zapp.
“现在让我们去坐‘扎普直升机’吧！”扎普说。
He sees a teacher with some children.
他看到一位老师带着一些孩子。
‘Would they like to come too?’ he asks her.
“他们也想一起来吗？”他问她。
‘Of course,’ says the teacher.
“当然，”老师说。
They help the children into the helicopters.
他们帮孩子们坐上直升机。
Zapp smiles and smiles.
扎普一直微笑着。
The photographers take lots of pictures.
摄影师们拍了很多照片。
Photo Phil arrives too.
摄影菲尔也来了。
He is one of the Happy Hills characters.
他是快乐山的卡通人物之一。
He takes a photo of the children – and sprays them with water!
他给孩子们拍照——还朝他们喷了水！
Everybody laughs.
大家都笑了。
Zapp is having a wonderful day.
扎普度过了美好的一天。
He speaks to the TV people.
他和电视台的工作人员交谈。
The photographers take photos of him with all the characters.
摄影师们拍摄了他与所有卡通人物的合影。
Zapp meets Charlie Clown.
扎普遇到了小丑查理。
Charlie gives him a flower – and the flower sprays him with water.
查理送给他一朵花——结果花向他喷了水。
Everybody laughs.
大家都笑了。
Sally meets Zapp too, and she is very excited.
莎莉也见到了扎普，她非常激动。
But she cannot talk to him because she is wearing her cat costume and Mr Parry is watching.
但她没法和他说话，因为她正穿着猫咪演出服，而且帕里先生还在盯着。
4 WHERE’S ZAPP’S CD?
4 扎普的CD去哪了？
‘Come on, it’s eleven o’clock,’ says William. ‘Let’s go to the canteen for our break. We’ve got ten minutes.’
“快点，十一点了，”威廉说，“我们去食堂休息吧。我们有十分钟时间。”
They sit down in the canteen and take off their heads.
他们在食堂坐下，摘掉头套。
Sally is thirsty. Her face is hot and red.
莎莉很渴。她的脸又热又红。
William is hot and thirsty too.
威廉也觉得又热又渴。
They have a long drink of cold water.
他们喝了一大杯冷水。
‘That’s good!’ William says.
“真爽！”威廉说。
Then he looks at his watch. ‘Ten past eleven,’ he says. ‘Come on, Sally. Back to work!’
然后他看了看表。“十一点十分了，”他说，“走吧，莎莉。回去工作！”
They finish their drinks and put their heads on again.
他们喝完饮料，重新戴上头套。
Suddenly a lot of people come into the canteen.
突然许多人涌进食堂。
‘What’s the matter?’ says William.
“怎么了？”威廉问。
‘Zapp’s CD!’ says Mr Parry. ‘He can’t find it!’
“扎普的CD！”帕里先生说，“他找不到了！”
Everybody is unhappy, but Zapp is angry too.
大家都很不高兴，扎普也很生气。
‘That CD’s important, Parry,’ he says. ‘You must find it.’
“那张CD很重要，帕里，”他说，“你必须找到它。”
‘I’m doing my best, Zapp,’ says Mr Parry. ‘Don’t hit me, please – I’m doing my best!’
“我正在尽力，扎普，”帕里先生说，“请别打我——我已经尽力了！”
A lot of things happen very quickly.
很多事情发生得很快。
The visitors want to go home, but suddenly Mr Parry closes all the doors.
游客们想回家，但帕里先生突然关上了所有的门。
‘Nobody can leave,’ he says. ‘I’m sorry, but Zapp’s CD’s very important and we must find it.’
“谁也不能离开，”他说，“很抱歉，但扎普的CD非常重要，我们必须找到它。”
Mr Parry makes a telephone call.
帕里先生打了个电话。
Very soon four police arrive in a big white police car.
很快，四名警察乘着一辆白色大警车赶到了。
They ask a lot of questions.
他们问了很多问题。
The police look everywhere for the CD.
警察到处寻找那张CD。
They read Mr Parry’s list of visitors.
他们查看了帕里先生的游客名单。
They count the visitors carefully and look in all their pockets and bags.
他们仔细清点游客人数，并搜查了所有人的口袋和包。
There is a lot of noise.
现场一片嘈杂。
People are angry and tired.
人们既愤怒又疲惫。
They want to go home now.
他们现在只想回家。
And Zapp is speaking very quietly into a little black telephone.
而扎普正对着一个黑色小电话低声说话。
Photo Phil goes to him and says, ‘Smile, please!’
摄影菲尔走到他面前说：“请笑一笑！”
‘Go away!’ says Zapp angrily.
“走开！”扎普生气地说。
Now the police want to talk to the workers.
现在警察要找工作人员谈话。
One stays with the visitors and three police speak to the workers in the canteen.
一名警察留下来看着游客，另外三名警察在食堂询问工作人员。
Zapp comes with the police.
扎普也跟着警察来了。
‘You must find that CD!’ says Zapp.
“你们必须找到那张CD！”扎普说。
‘We’re doing our best, Zapp,’ say the police.
“我们正在尽力，扎普，”警察说。
5 THE FIFTEENTH CHARACTER
5 第十五个角色
Sally waits quietly with the other workers.
莎莉和其他工作人员安静地等待着。
She looks at Mr Parry’s Jobs for Today list and counts the names.
她看着帕里先生的今日工作清单，数着上面的名字。
There are twenty-nine names on the list today.
今天的清单上有二十九个名字。
Fifteen people are helpers.
十五个人是助理。
They wear green trousers and yellow shirts and help the visitors.
他们穿着绿裤子和黄衬衫，负责帮助游客。
Fourteen people are characters and wear costumes.
十四个人扮演卡通人物，穿着演出服。
‘Wait a minute,’ thinks Sally. ‘There are fourteen characters on the list. But there are fifteen characters here!’
“等一下，”莎莉心想，“清单上只有十四个卡通人物。但这里有十五个！”
She reads the list again, very, very carefully.
她又非常非常仔细地看了一遍清单。
‘Edward Elephant – yes, he’s here. Connie Cat – that’s me. Cowboy Joe – that’s William. Photo Phil – yes, he’s here. Big Apple – yes. Sir Laugh-a-Lot and Lady Love-a-Little…’
“大象爱德华——是的，他在。康妮猫——那是我。牛仔乔——那是威廉。摄影菲尔——是的，他在。大苹果——是的。大笑爵士和微爱女士……”
‘Wait a minute, Charlie Clown isn’t on the list – but Charlie’s here in this room!’
“等等，小丑查理不在清单上——但查理就在这个房间里！”
‘Excuse me, Mr Parry,’ says Sally. ‘There are fourteen characters on your list, but there are fifteen in the room now. Charlie Clown isn’t on the list, but he’s here.’
“打扰一下，帕里先生，”莎莉说，“您的清单上有十四个卡通人物，但现在房间里有十五个。小丑查理不在清单上，但他却在这里。”
Mr Parry reads the list and counts the characters.
帕里先生看了看清单，又数了数卡通人物。
‘You’re right, Sally,’ he says.
“你说得对，莎莉，”他说。
‘Take off your heads!’ Mr Parry says to the characters.
“把头套摘下来！”帕里先生对卡通人物们说。
They take off their heads.
他们摘下了头套。
Charlie Clown is a woman.
小丑查理竟然是一个女人。
‘Why are you wearing that costume?’ asks Mr Parry.
“你为什么穿着这套演出服？”帕里先生问。
The woman begins to run away, but William stops her.
那个女人开始逃跑，但威廉拦住了她。
The police take off her costume – and find a big pocket.
警察脱下她的演出服——发现了一个大口袋。
In it they find Zapp’s CD.
他们在里面找到了扎普的CD。
The singer smiles again.
歌手再次露出了笑容。
It is Saturday night.
星期六晚上。
Sally and William are in London because they are going to Zapp’s concert.
莎莉和威廉在伦敦，因为他们要去听扎普的演唱会。
There are lots of excited people and TV photographers outside the hall.
音乐厅外有许多兴奋的人群和电视摄影师。
Everybody wants to hear Zapp’s new song.
每个人都想听扎普的新歌。
‘Where are your tickets?’ says the man at the door to Sally.
“你们的票呢？”门口的工作人员对莎莉说。
‘We haven’t got any tickets,’ says Sally.
“我们没有票，”莎莉说。
The man begins to look angry.
那人开始显得生气。
Sally smiles and takes something out of her pocket.
莎莉微笑着从口袋里掏出一样东西。
‘Is this invitation OK? It’s from Zapp.’
“这张邀请函可以吗？是扎普给的。”
