Chapter 169 The Ass and the Old Shepherd（驴子和老牧羊人）

A SHEPHERD, watching his Ass feeding in a meadow, was alarmed all of a sudden by the cries of the enemy. —
有一位牧羊人正在草地上看着他的驴子吃草，突然听到了敌人的叫声。 —

He appealed to the Ass to fly with him, lest they should both be captured, but the animal lazily replied, “Why should I, pray? —
他请求驴子和他一起逃跑，免得他们都被抓住，但驴子懒散地回答说：“我为什么要逃跑呢？ —

Do you think it likely the conqueror will place on me two sets of panniers? —
你觉得征服者会给我两个驮篮吗？ —

’ “No,” rejoined the Shepherd. —
“不会”，牧羊人回答道。 —

“Then,” said the Ass, “as long as I carry the panniers, what matters it to me whom I serve?’
“那么，只要我背着驮篮，对我来说是什么样的主人都无所谓。”

In a change of government the poor change nothing beyond the name of their master.
