China’s Pudu Robotics Showcases Advanced D5 Robot Dog at Tokyo Expo
中国普渡科技在东京展出先进D5机器狗
Pudu Robotics unveiled its new D5 quadruped robot at the International Robot Exhibition in Tokyo, drawing strong public attention with its agility and autonomous navigation. Powered by Nvidia’s Orin chip, the nearly one-metre-tall robot features fisheye cameras, lidar sensors and self-developed joint modules, enabling all-terrain, all-weather operation. Founded in 2016 by Felix Zhang, Pudu has grown from restaurant delivery robots to a broad portfolio of service machines, selling over 100,000 units in more than 80 countries. The company’s global network now includes 700 distributors, with significant revenue from Europe, the Americas and Asia-Pacific. Zhang said political tensions have not affected its Japanese business. As China advances rapidly in service robotics, Pudu aims to expand into specialised, semi-humanoid and humanoid robots. Nearing break-even, the firm is preparing for an IPO after past restructuring.
