Xiaomi has launched its 17-series smartphones in Beijing, just two weeks after Apple’s iPhone 17 debut. The lineup includes the Xiaomi 17, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max, all powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. CEO Lei Jun highlighted their slim design and a new Leica co-developed imaging system optimized for backlight photography. The 17 is priced at 4,499 yuan (US$632), while the Pro and Pro Max models, featuring a rear display for images and notifications, are priced at 4,999 yuan and 5,999 yuan. The release underscores Xiaomi’s push into the premium smartphone market, targeting devices priced above US$600.
